Along with our exceptional immigrant honorees, Siloam also honors one U.S.-born individual each year who has helped our city take great strides in support of immigrants and refugees. These Bridge Builders often stand in the gap, empowering immigrants and native Nashvillians to work alongside one another for the benefit of all.

Under the leadership of Dr. Bob Fisher, Belmont University continues to strive to align its vision with the ever-changing needs of its community and works to help New Americans advance in their education and in life.

Belmont makes intentional efforts to hire documented, sponsored refugees, encouraging them to take advantage of the University’s educational offerings and covering the cost of ESL courses. The university also considers students living in the United States for admission without regard to immigration standing and offers support to assist foreign-born students with enrollment and the transition to college life.

Belmont University plays a huge role in the future of our city, building a bridge across cultures to create a truly diverse Nashville.
