A native of Costa Rica, Renata Soto has called Nashville home for over 20 years. She is the co-founder and Executive Director of Conexión Américas, a nonprofit dedicated to building a welcoming community for Latino families and creating opportunities where they can belong, contribute and succeed in Tennessee. Conexión Américas supports more than 8,000 immigrant families every year in their journey to become an integral part of Nashville’s social, cultural, and economic vitality.
Renata was also the visionary behind Casa Azafrán, a nonprofit collaborative that has become an iconic landmark in Nashville’s urban landscape and a source of local pride and national attention. More recently, her vision for equitable communities where all residents have access to beautiful shared civic spaces extended further with the opening of Azafrán Park in 2018.
Renata’s fierce advocacy on behalf of the international community has brought hope to thousands of individuals as they build a home in Nashville and become contributing members to the city’s cultural and economic landscape. Her commitment to the Latino community has been a pivotal part of Nashville’s growth – not just as a city that welcomes immigrants, but as one who thrives because of them.
